GUDAURI – plan you ski trip to the best Georgian ski resort

The ski resort Gudauri is located in Mtskheta-Mtianeti (Georgia). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 34.8 km of slopes available. 15 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 1,993 and 3,276 m.

The Bakuriani resort

The Bakuriani resort summary is: Bakuriani has 4 lifts within its terrain that is suitable for beginner and intermediate levels. Find location, trail maps and piste maps covering the mountains 599m of vertical range and surrounding area. There are 12 trail at Bakuriani.

The ski area of the resort is split into two separate parts: Didveli and Kokhta/Kokhta-Mitarbi. Mount Kokhta provides a maximum skiable altitude of 2,269 metres (7,444 ft),^[5] whereas the highest lift in Didveli reaches 2,702 metres (8,865 ft).^[6]

The first ski base was opened in 1932. From Bakuriani to Kokhtagori Mountain (1.3 km [0.81 mi]) and Tskhratskaro Pass (3.5 km [2.2 mi]) there are ski lifts, ski tramps. There is artificial snowfall on Didveli skiing routes.

Mestia

Mestia is a small but lovely mountain village characterised by its typical Svan towers used for defence in the past. The village lies deep in the Caucasus and is also popular by tourists in summertime. There are two ski resorts in the neighbourhood: Hatsvali and Tetnuldi. Hatsvali is a mall ski resort 8 km from Mestia, but accessible with a ski lift. Tetnuldi is around 20 km away and only accessible by road. Mestia itself is located on an altitude of 1500 meter, but the ski resorts are higher. So the snow certainty is good. Hatsvali ski resort Hatsvali is about 8 km from Mestia and accessible by road and ski lift. This ski resort is with only 4 lifts and 5.5 km slopes very small, but the panorama is really great. On the highest top is a famous restaurant with an amazing view over the beautiful mountains. The slopes are on an altitude between 1800 and 2400 meters and 80% is marked black. The rest of the slopes are red and blue. Tetnuldi ski resort Tetnuldi is located much higher and is way bigger than Hatsvali, but it is also further away from Mestia. The slopes are at an high between 2200 and 3200 meter. There are 5 lifts and 13.4 km slopes. About 50% of the slopes is marked black, 40% is red and the rest blue. Tetnuldi is like Hatsvali mostly suited for intermediary and advanced skiers.
